B12 is found in vegan sources, such as sea vegetables and mushrooms. And, um, I think you share the carton?

okay, sorry. poor choice of words. Don't hate me! D: I'll change it now, but, I actually like this a lot! "i know what you mean about pro-vegan sources, but even the unbiased sources (like the American Dietetic Association) dont actually say "it's unhealthy to be vegan". all they're pointing out if that some animal products can be good for you, that doesn't mean you NEED them. even if some dairy products are good for us, doesn't mean we need them. i have yet to find any facts stating that we CANNOT be vegan and healthy, that we MUST eat animal products or die. there's really no proof. i highly doubt that we're dependent on other creatures, that we need another species breast milk" That's a really good point actually, just some random site i searched on google for. I think it was pretty neutral and looked at both good points and bad points about vegan diet. chetday.com/strictvegandiet.htmhe says: "In fact, my experiences have led me to believe that many people don’t need to get more than 10 – 25 percent of their total calories from clean, organic animal foods to be at their best. Just in the past year alone, I have worked with several people who were experiencing significant health challenges on a long term, strict vegan diet and were extremely grateful to see their health improve by adding small amounts of clean animal foods to their diets. " Maybe it could be compromise. Vegan mostly, but maybe one organic egg & butter every month or so? The thing is, while animal rights is important to me, I value human life just as much. While I don't want to see any animals being hurt for humans, I don't want any humans being hurt for animals. I hope you see what I mean. oh, i wasnt talking about you!! i was responding to angela! i wasnt hating you, im sorry!

that's interesting janice, what the guy observed. but how do we know it's true (not that i dont believe him or you. but you were saying out 'facts' were doubtable, so wouldn't his 'observations' be just as, if not more doubtable?) . i think having chickens as companions and eating their eggs in understandable. that way you can know for a fact that they are loved and well cared for. my dad used to have chickens and i loved them, i spent hours everyday with them, and getting to know them. i mean i didn't eat their eggs, but i still loved the fact that he ate their eggs (unfertilized, of course) and not mystery eggs.

You're right, I don't believe in facts. And I don't completely believe both the guy AND the ADA. The same way I didn't believe my doctors and my dad's friend who's a nutritionist who told me it was unhealthy to become vegetarian, let alone vegan. (of course I set my priorities straight and didnt listen to them)
It's just a little confusing/irritating for me, that you can't seem to accept the SLIGHT possibility that being completely vegan is unhealthy? That's the main reason why I don't think it is all right and perfect to raise your kids vegan. I just think that free range dairy and eggs is an acceptable idea, at least until your children can make decisions for themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I totally respect your opinions. But I really hope you guys can see my point of view too!

um, not to be offensive or anything. But were you joking, or did you actually take it that literally?

well, for a new born, you MUST make decisions for them. it makes more sense to raise someone vegan then let them decide when they're old enough. it's not forcing any opinion on anyone. to raise a child vegan for health is the exact same as raising them omnivore for health. once again, we're not only citing pro-vegan sources (compassion over killing, peta, FARM, et cetera): ➜US National Institute of Health: "with appropriate food choices, vegan diets can be adequate for children at all ages." ➜American Dietetic Association: "Appropriately planned vegan diets can satisfy nutrient needs of infants." “Well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. " ➜The American Academy of Pediatrics state that vegan diets can promote normal infant growth. ➜Dietitians of Canada (same as ADA): "Well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence."

Slight possibility. From my previous posts I would have thought you would know that I didn't mean it as an actual slight possibility if that makes sense?

I think being vegan is less healthy than being vegetarian because me and my only other vegan friend both had some health problems of our own after we went vegan. She went back to eating meat (only fish though) :s and she's alright now. But I stuck with it and I still constantly have these stomach pains and iron problems. :/
I don't know what I'm doing wrong because I'm following all the rules and even taking supplements. Maybe it's a racial thing because people in america and uk all seem to be fine with being vegan.

I don't know what's wrong with me, really. ha. But yeah, any info would be REALLY great, even though it's a bit off topic here. Now this is even more off topic, but the AR movement isn't big at all over here. In fact, they all think I'm rather insane for not eating meat let alone eggs/dairy ("even the nuns and monks eat eggs!" "except I'm not a nun.") so going to the doctor doesn't help. Last time I went to the doctors they just told me to eat meat again. Once they even told me to go see a psychologist to "overcome" my teenage angsty phase. gosh.

My friends baby is vegan, and she weighed more than the corpse muncher babies, and she's healthy much to the annoyance of the doctors who think veganism can't be healthy.

thanks shadowvegan, and yeah. D: You never met an unhealthy vegan before? D: well I'll be your first then. I won't necessarily say UNHEALTHY but they reckon I would have less problems if I ate meat again. PS. I know this isn't your intention, but corpse muncher sounds REALLY cute. xD It reminds me of zombies and I like zombies and muncher is so adorable sounding. Like a 8-bit video game character from the 90s or something. God I'm weird.
