Hi everyone! I'm doing a photography/performance art project relating to animal rights and would like to hear your opinions on the ethics of this.
Basically, it's going to be a super gory, bloody photoshoot with me and my friend as cannibals/zombies eating each other.
Thing is, we are thinking of using REAL hearts, intestines, livers etc from a butcher shop as props. It feels like such a good idea and such a bad idea at the same time, so please give me your opinion!
pros: +making fake guts will take loads of time/money +If I didn't use them, they would be thrown out anyway. +At the end of the day, this photography project would support our cause. (though how contraversial would that be?! then again, I love contraversy.) +When I tell the viewers that they're real, it would definitely add to the shock factor and really bring the message across. Linking bloody innards with the meat you eat at home.
cons: -It's a dead animal. -I would be supporting the industry. -I can make fake innards. -Really unsanitary.
So what do you think?
Am I just an assfuck for even thinking about using dead animals for "art"? Or does the benefits of this photoshoot outweigh the negatives? Could this be a really strong message for animal rights?
I'm completely torn between the two views.

I'm not sure yet. I think it would be, because I'm using the stuff that they're throwing out. But then again, they MIGHT charge me a couple dollars (HKD! ) anyway.

If they don't charge, and you won't be supporting them, it'd be a great use for what they throw out.

okay! thanks for your opinion angela ! I'll probably do it if it's for free, and maybe I'll just leave it out if it isn't.
