Apathy or Insecurity?

Am I the only one who's had a meat-eater say something along the lines of, "I LUVVV MEET!!!" when you give someone a link to Meet Your Meat or show it to them? I've had this happen all too much. I honestly think people who are like this either want to cover up their true feelings about what happens to these animals or don't want the truth to sink into their brains. I do not believe so many people could truly be apathetic enough about it to be rude enough to say half of the things they do, but maybe it's just me.

What is your opinion?

yeah, alot of the time when they try to explain to me why we "need" meat, they're just trying to justify eating meat to themselves.
when they say stuff like:
"but we need to eat meat for protein, oh, and it's ok to kill animals as long as we treat them nicely... animals kill animals, so ha!"
they're really just saying to themselves to reassure themselves that it's ok to eat meat.
