Does anyone know what it's like to donate blood? I've been considering donating blood for a while now and will probably have the chance later in the school year. What is it like? How bad does it hurt compared to blood work? I don't think I care that much about it hurting since it'll save a life, even though I'm mildly afraid of needles.
Has anyone ever donated blood before?

i wish i could donate blood, but the FDA won't let me because i'm gay. i believe also i don't weigh enough to meet the minimum weight requirement for giving blood either. oh well, maybe someone who needs a blood transfusion will just die instead..
from what i've heard, the actual process of donating the blood is relatively simple and painless. once the blood is drawn, they apparently give you juice or cookies or something else with sugar content so you don't feel sick or light headed, though some people feel a little whoosey anyway.
