Do you believe that pet stores only selling male guinea pigs would help or hurt the animal rights movement?
Pros: -While it wouldn't be a definite solution, it would lessen the over-population, thus causing a decrease in the euthanasia of guinea pigs. -There would be way less backyard-breeders, because females would be much less available. Of course, they'll still be around. -Those who wish to purchase females will only be able to buy them through a breeder or animal shelter/rescue, so less guinea pigs will come from crummy conditions of suppliers such as Rainbow Exotics.
Cons: -People may feel better about buying from pet stores, even though pet stores are horrendous. -People may be tricked into believing that the pet over-population is over and will support breeders and pet stores once again. -Suppliers like Rainbow Exotics will have no place to sell females, so they'll probably be killed or starved to death, knowing Rainbow Exotics.
Opinions? Have your own pros and cons?

There will always be ways and means to get females so selling either gender is pointless.

Hmm... I suppose it would really depend on where the pet stores get their animals. If they breed them themselves, then the females will still be killed so there would be no point. But if they buy them from breeders... Well... I guess something would still have to be done with the females huh?
Honestly, I think that forcing pet stores to stop selling animals period would help the animal rights movement a lot. Not that this would ever happen... :/ But then more people would go to shelters and breeders. I really think that it's wrong to put a price on an animal's life, instead of the adoption fees in shelters which cover the cost of the animal's spay/neuter and food, as well as helping keep the shelter running. Breeders and pet stores decide how much an animal's life is worth, and that's just not right.

They would have to go to other customers, even if they're from different regions but the same chain. Hmm. This would definitely not be a possible solution for an entire chain.
Less females = less baby-producers
