Some of my friends say they ate vegetarians, a few are actually pescetarians but tell me that's the same thing. (it's not) But as well as that some others who don't eat fish still eat cheese and marshmellows with rennet and gelatin (gross X[). I've told them that those foods are not vegetarian in a polite way and they asked me why. I told them but they ignore the facts and still eat these foods anyway. Can they still call themselves vegetarians when they know that their food is made of dead animals and eat it anyway? Or are they just posers?

Since they know that it is made from dead corpses, then no, they cannot call themselves true vegetarians. For those who believe you can eat fish and/or chicken and still be a vegetarian, just tell them to look it up in the dictionary. Yea that's what I thought. Just because an animal product isn't as prominent as a steak on your plate doesn't mean an animal didn't suffer for it. Thanks for the help!

Some people think that just taking red meat out will do loads of help. However, since it takes less meat to kill a chicken or fish, they are wrong. Also, the other meat types will probably substitute much of the red meat in the person's diet, causing more death than a diet with red meat would have. Does this make sense?

Exactly. Plus, more will have to suffer in factory farm conditions.

thats how the monks felt. they rarely ate meat, but when they did they'd kill a single cow and feed many, instead of many chickens and feed few. why cause so much death?

I know this thread is pretty old, but I'm going to comment! You could NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER consider or even call yourself a vegetarian if you knew you were harming another animal. I can honestly say that the one time I accidentally ate a marshmallow, I felt so guilty I practically gagged myself. This is the reason as well why I'm trying to go vegan.

I hate HATE HATE people like the afore-mentioned. There's a girl at school who calls herself vegetarian but she still eats fish and on occasion chicken. Her reasoning behind eating chicken is 'a chicken pecked me when I was little. I hate chickens' Who made you god and said you could kill something just because you don't like it? Another time I caught her eating frosted pop tarts and told her they weren't vegetarian and rather than just say 'opps I didn't know' she kept making excuses for herself. I hate it when people keep making excuses rather than just saying 'I didn't know, my bad'

Totally, it's like, own up to your own mistakes. If you can't do that, you will get no where in life.
