So, I was just reading my school's website and they have decided that they will no longer serve orange juice for lunch. WHAT THE HECK? The only drink they serve now is milk and you are required to have a drink. WTF? What is a vegan suppost to do? I can't take my lunch everyday! Plus, you are required to get at least two servings of dairy with your meal? What are we suppost to do?

Ugh!
I don't really know what to tell you. Maybe you'll have to skip lunch when you can't make your own, but I don't think it's a great idea to skip it a lot. Maybe you should talk to the school board or something about it.

There's a link to a company that helps with vegan foods for school on peta2's FAQ site..i'll see if i can find it later
I wasn't a vegetarian last year, but i never ate the school meat anyway, so everyone assumed i was one and they made changes to the menu just for me. It's probably just because they're really nice, but I don't know. I mean, I still ended up eating crappy lunch food, it just felt nice that they'd go through the trouble to make me a veggie wrap instead of a taco, even though it meant cutting extra veggies for me.
I still ate poptarts almost everyday, and now I'm obviously not doing that...so this year should be interesting.

Like shadowvegan says, you could always refuse it! :-) Maybe take it and then leave it back at the counter if you don't want to be noticed refusing it.
and you could always speak to the principal about putting some vegan food into the lunch menu!
And of course, bring your own lunch. :-)
by the way, kcares: that sounds lovely!

For those who have ever been forced to take a milk, remember that you have the right to refuse. Before I was even vegan (my school's milk was nasty,) I'd just throw my milk out. Now, I wish I'd had the bravery to refuse. --- After reading my school's lunch menu, I feel compelled to send in my concerns about the menu. First off, there is WAY too much meat. That's basically what my school's lunch menu is made of. While this may taste good for those meat-eaters, it is definitely not healthy to have so much meat. This time, I e-mailed the food service my school uses instead of even bothering with the principal, who probably wouldn't have done anything at all. This is it: Dear Nutrition Group, I just reviewed the food menu for the Lakeland High School and feel it is inadequate for those of us who are vegetarian and vegan. The only options I noticed that are offered daily and are vegetarian friendly are the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the vegetarian salad. This may seem adequate to you, but for vegetarians and vegans, only being able to rely on two foods to eat for lunch can be quite repetitive and unappetizing after a while. It’d be nice if at least a vegan veggie burger and/or a veggie hoagie were offered. One reason you should add more vegan options to your menu is so low-income vegetarians and vegans can eat a well-balanced lunch. While many who apply for free lunch aren’t in poverty, there are some who are, and if they happen to be vegan, they should be able to actually enjoy a lunch they feel comfortable eating. This is the twenty-first century; I think the school lunch should be prepared for the diversity that has come with such a century. It is possible for vegetarians to get the nutrition they need. First off, there is protein in beans, peas, lentils, peanuts, peanut butter, tofu, soy milk, and fake meat. Second, there is iron in broccoli, cashews, sunflower seeds, cereals, tomato juice, raisins, and more. Vegans often have to worry about consuming enough calcium. Calcium can be obtained from almonds, kale, broccoli, calcium-fortified orange juice, and calcium-fortified soy milk. Even if you do not agree with veganism, you should at least prevent vegans at our school who cannot bring their own lunch in every day for whatever reasons go without lunch. Students need full stomachs and full nutrition in order to succeed in school. I thought a third of that—one of the three meals of the day—was your job. You would also earn more money if you offered more vegetarian and vegan options to the school lunch, since most vegetarians probably take their own lunch, instead. The lack of vegan options is the reason I discontinued buying lunch at school and instead chose to take my own. While I do not think adding a few more vegetarian and vegan options to the menu needs that huge of an intervention, I did find some resources that may help you out a bit: www.vegadvantage.com/I sent it to the person who's in charge of my school's company and also the entire company. I wonder if this is going to do anything...

Yeah, it's so sad that low-income kids are basically forced to eat meat once the cheese pizza and the 2 veggie burgers they make per lunch are gone. And I am sure the situation is much worse at other schools.
If the government makes you eat a certain kind of food, isn't that brainwashing?
