I know you guys have probably all heard about Aloe Vera being a good household plant to have around because it helps burns. I have one and I pulled off a dead leaf, noticing that the middle was still green and spongy. So I cut off the brown at either end, slit it down the middle, and my mom volunteered to guinnea pig it. I squeezed it, and rubbed some on her sunburn, and the skin stayed cool. Like, she felt it and it was way cooler than the rest of her skin. I put some on the back of my hand. The juice doesn't smell bad, there's no residue, and it's better than anything I've ever put on a sunburn. I took pictures. Mine's been living under the turtle's lights for a year, so light is good, but I don't think a lot of heat is necessary. Anyway, just thought you guys might wanna know. I'd pick one up, because they're great. I've had mine for a year now and it's only the size it is now, so be careful when cutting it for burns for a little bit. But to use it just cut the tip off and the plant will form a scab and close itself up in about 10-20 minutes. Then what I did was just rub the inside of the leaf on the skin. It's really juicy, attractive, and a good plant to have around the house.
