Besides its discrimination against employees, Wal-mart is guilty of other animal rights issues. Their fish are always dead, and they still sell betta-in-a-cup. I don't know if they still sell crab-in-a-cup or not, but what crab-in-a-cup is/was is a hermit crab cramped inside of one of those tiny cups pet stores usually put betta fish in.
Not only do they stuff tiny animals in tiny space, but they also sell hermit crabs in painted shells (if they still sell hermit crabs.) This paint chips off so easily. Hermit crabs aren't so smart, so they eat this paint and then get sick.

The wal-mart near me doesn't even sell fish or inverts anymore. Better that way, hopefully all wal-marts will stop selling animals eventually.

^That's great. The one here still sells fish. I've also heard that Wal-Mart also sells fiddler crabs or something.

A local walmart around here sell fish, and literally every time you can find at least 4 or 5 dead fish in the tanks & betta cups. I believe that they sell aquatic snails as well. It's beyond ridiculous that a company so rich in selling EVERYTHING should try to make money off of improperly-cared-for life, too..
Usually, betta fish that are sold in walmart and chain pet stores(in the USA) come from Thailand, at about 25 cents per fish for the buying company. Imagine the stress the poor things go through to be shipped all that way, only to be kept in a filthy inch or two of water...
I'm glad I've never seen hermit crabs being sold in any local walmarts.

I'm happy to say the Wal-mart by me doesn't sell any fish (or crabs)
But still...all wal-marts should ban this. The poor fish are probably so stressed in such a tiny space.
