Glad I'm not the only one who has a problem with calling non-human animals "it."

I always refer to an animal as a him or her, and if I can't tell the gender, it's "Little Guy," "Big Guy," "Pretty *insert animal breed here ending with -y*," or "Buddy." I try not to say "it." That, like it said in the article, is giving the animal inanimate qualities.
